FAQs
How come most JDM engines have low mileage although some are 8-9 years old?
The reason is that Japan has one of the most rigorous and expensive car inspection systems in the world, the cost of which often ranges from $1,000 et $2,000. Although new cars are exempt from the requirement, once an automobile reaches its third birthday, it must undergo this inspection every two years. After an auto is a decade old, the inspection must be done annually. At this point, most Japanese write off their cars because of the cost of the inspections and buy new ones. This practice has been used to boost car sales in Japan and give carmakers such as Honda, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Subaru and Toyota, advantages to compete in the international market.

Are all your JDM engines and parts coming from Japan?
Yes. They are extracted from running cars in that country. These are what we call the donor vehicles. Before being shipped to us, our personnel in Japan has selected the best-conditioned (clean and low mileage) motors for distribution from our Montreal facility.

What else do you include?
The complete "long-block" assembly is what we call a JDM package. The uncut harness and the motor mounts are mostly also included.

The mileage of your engines... do you take it into account?
Yes. Always the lowest mileage JDM engines are selected for our customers. Mileage typically ranges from 20,000 to 40,000 miles on our JDM engines when donated from the running parent vehicles. It is impossible to state the exact mileage of the engine, though, because sometimes only the packages are obtained and not the front part also, which can exactly indicate the mileage. JDM Engine, Inc. encourages the customers to be very attentive. Some packages from other JDM providers come with clusters which indicate low mileage to falsely demonstrate the mileage of the engine coming with it. This is a very sad practice and we do not approve it whatsoever.
